From helping out in his family’s plant nursery, to assisting his father a building contractor, Dan Hemmerich (Founder of Dominion Landscape) learned the basic skills and work ethic needed for transformative landscape design at an early age. In high school he had the opportunity to test his skills, working with a local non-profit group to create an edible landscape for their front entry in the Eugene / Springfield community.

“From that time I started to perfect the process of applying new design methods to landscaping. This process of creating beautiful landscapes is my passion.”

This love for landscape design saw him through a 5-year apprenticeship with a top local Eugene landscaper, by the end of which he was the landscape construction foreman. From there, he studied European stone masonry with a Scottish mason, and continues to acquire and integrate new and different techniques into his work.

Dan and his wife Stephanie opened Dominion Landscape in 2007. Their goal was to create a company dedicated to exploring and advancing modern landscape design. Integrating this into the client’s landscape in a way most suited to their lifestyle and taste is of first importance.

“It is a client-directed process,” Dan describes the fluid relationship he has with his clients. “The initial meeting is when we get a sense of who the client is, of what they want… This is where transformative design begins!”
